Allocation of Parental Responsibilities in Southern Illinois

At Schafer Law LLC, in Marion, IL, we know that the issues that can prove to be the most costly and agonizing in a divorce are those involving decision making and parenting time rights (formerly known as child custody and visitation). A family law judge will generally make participation in mediation, parenting programs, or both a prerequisite when dealing with allocation of parental responsibilities.

Child support is an ongoing obligation until the point when the child has reached his or her 18th birthday or high school graduation. In addition, both parents could be obligated to contribute financial resources to the post-high school education of the children.
